Shalom To You

How many people really know what does it mean? Some of you may have heard it in a song

'Shalom Shalom Jerusalem
Peace be to you
When Messiah come to take us home
May his grace be found on you'
Song by Paul Wilbur

In modern society, 'Peace' usually means a time without war or an inner being of calm.
Shalom is a Hebrew word for peace. So when people use the word "Shalom" to greet others or to say goodbye, they are wishing them the best, including health, success, prosperity.

In older days, peace means no wild animals attack or war. A time of safety.
God gives peace to those who lives as God intends and who live according to justice and truth (Isa 32.16.17). But those who disobey God and do evil will never live in peace.

David, who is also know as "Prince Of Peace",
Isaiah 9.6-6

6 For a child is born to us,
a son is given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders.
And he will be called:
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 His government and its peace
will never end.
He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David
for all eternity.
The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies
will make this happen!

Lasting peace is promised as part of the new future.

Christ was sent to earth to make peace between God and all people.
This peace comes from forgiveness, and God's people are to carry this message of peace and forgiveness to others (2Cor 5.18-20)

I am living in a world of peace, praise God! and I can not say the same for the people in Iraq, Israel and Palestinian. Therefore, I learned to treasure and appreciate the peace by learning from 'The Learning Bible - CEV (Contemporary English Version)'

It is called Learning bible for some reasons, it has six types of note located at the side column and with symbols based on

1) Geography
2) People And Nations
3) Objects, Planets and Animals
4) History & Culture
5) Ideas & Concepts
6) Cross References

You can learned many things and for each section of the Bible, you will find background information and analysis to lead you to the full meaning and importance of the text. Throughout there are colorful, informative illustrations, tables, charts and maps to guide you.

Good Gift Book On ''Intro To Christianity'' for Pre-believers

I have reviewed this book 'Being Christian" and it is the answers to all the questions by pre-believers.

It was organized into sections: God, You and Church.

Stephen Arterburn and John Shore have designed a thoroughly comprehensive and refreshingly engaging primer on foundational Christian tenets. Readers from across the spectrum of Christian experience (newbies, veterans and seekers alike) will find this biblical question-and-answer format compellingly practical.

It is written from an evangelical perspective, other Christians will learn from it, too, and appreciate the authors' clear approach.
The book addresses specific, often thorny questions: how is God simultaneously Father, Son and Spirit?
Why does God allow evil to exist?
Why must Christians pray for their enemies?
How are they to understand "fallen" Christian leaders?
What is original sin?
And how do confession, repentance and Christ's atonement and resurrection play into the Christian's daily faith journey?
Arterburn and Shore further enhance their excellent guide with wit, humor and gentle pokes at the church's foibles. Whether individuals are just wondering about God or serious in their religious pursuit, this book is a valuable resource."

This book tackled some of the most fundamental and debatable questions that most experience Christians failed to answer convincingly.

I would recommend this book for your unbelievers friends, relatives, colleagues to read as a gift book especially Christmas is coming soon. It will definitely be a wise and good gift item for X'mas present, better than toys, electronic gadget because after a while it will fade away but nothing can compares to a soul being saved.
